Venue and Catering Costs
Venue and catering costs were – as with every wedding – the biggest wedding cost. The couple chose Villa Geno in Como, which has many positive reviews from couples, as its wedding venue.
Catering included “welcome drinks, an aperitivo, a 3-course meal, a millefeuille wedding cake, a premium open bar, and late-night pizza“. The venue rental fee also includes tables & chairs, linens, glassware & tableware.
Transportation
A boat tour is an essential part of a true Lake Como wedding. To incorporate a boat tour into their wedding, the couple rented the Mega Rospo, a two-level panoramic boat from Bellagio Boat Service for a 1.5h private cruise of Lake Como before the ceremony. The boat dropped all guests at the wedding venue at the end of the cruise.
Other Cost-Saving Tips
The couple was able to identify many of their vendors on Instagram, going with lesser-known vendors who offer cheaper rates. For example, they found an up-and-coming wedding photographer on Instagram and managed to book her at a very reasonable rate well in advance of their wedding date.
In addition, the couple did not book separate venues for their welcome party and day-after lunch. Instead, they used Villa Geno for all 3 days. They kept the welcome party a “drinks-only” event and organized a buffet-style day-after lunch. This enabled the couple to add two more events to their wedding without breaking the bank.
At a total cost of just north of US$75,000 for 80 guests, this breakdown shows that a small Lake Como wedding can be done even without a large budget. Through thoughtful planning, careful comparison of vendors, and the balancing of priorities, this couple was able to create a dream wedding!
